The sign said "75% Road Ban," a warning to truckers that the pavement couldn't support loaded semis.

We need to recognize similar limitations in our own lives.  Many people reach stages in their lifelong pilgrimage when pressures exceed their coping capacity.  One more phone call, one more problem, and we'll reach critical mass or limitation.  There's only so much anyone can take.

Fortunately, God understands our limits.  Jesus referred to the people of His generation as "weary and heavy laden...worried and upset about many things...harassed and helpless."  We can still identify with those demographics today.  In fact even people filled with the Holy Spirit have a maximum burden-bearing  capacity.

Just as a footbridge wasn't designed to support a freight train, our freestanding human frame isn't rated to carry all the traffic that comes at us on any given day.  The best way to relieve the pressure is to delegate your responsibilities to the One who cares for you.

If you can trust Him with salvation, you should be able to trust Him with issues of less magnitude.  If you can count on Him for eternal life, you can trust Him with the next 24 hours.    ~Author Unknown~

Give Away Time

Ladies it's time to celebrate!

It has been a long two months and I need to do something fun!

Before my shoulder surgery I had planned to open an Esty Shop.  The plan was little girls dresses and some small quilting projects.  I had started on the dresses and have four done.  The surgery has put everything on hold for now, but I would like to giveaway one of the little dresses.  

I am letting you chose either a size five or size four Sundress.  There is only one size five, but you have a choice from two size four dresses.

 

So if you have a daughter, granddaughter, niece, or know of a little girl who would like a new dress, just leave a comment and let me know which dress you would like.  I will enter your name twice if you mention the giveaway on your blog.

My Helping Hands!

Since my last post I have gotten rid of my immobilizer sling (so nice) still limited to what I can do with my arm.  At least with therapy am starting to see some process.

This week for a couple of days I have had some very helpful extra hands, here are some of the things that they did for me.........

Thank you so much Keiven and Jonathan for all of your help, grandchildren are truly a blessing!

Strawberry Season!

We pick at a Mennonite bulk food store.

He really did pick more than he ate!

Today I made two batches of Freezer Strawberry Jam

and started crushing up the rest of the berries for the freezer.

 

Have two more pails to take care of, a few will be saved out for fresh and the rest put in the freezer.

We are having hot and humid weather today (97 degrees). Went out early this morning and did some weeding in the garden (little slower with only one hand) before it got to hot out.

Tomorrow will be doing some baking for the 4th.  It is suppose to cool down some!

Thoughts and Dessert

A few days ago in a devotional book that I am reading the passage for the day had the following:

Who is in charge of your life?

If it is you,then you have good reason to worry.  But if it is I, then worry is both unnecessary and counterproductive.  When you start to feel anxious about something, relinquish the situation to Me.  Back off a bit, redirecting your focus to Me.  I will either take care of the problem Myself or show you how to handle it.  In this world you will have problems, but you need not lose sight of Me.

What a blessing this was to me.  We have been having a few things going on that would be so easy to let myself get all worried and wondering how we will take care of it.  It started with my shoulder surgery, then we found out that the house we have been trying to sell needs a new septic tank.  This created another unexpected expense.  Then our grandson had a check up and had to see a couple of specialists.  I will admit my first reaction was to worry about how will we pay the extra bills, how will things turn out with our grandson?  Then I read the devotional above.  What a blessing to know that God is in control, He will take care of everything.  I have seen this over and over in our lives, why is it so easy to forget at times!

I have already seen God working.  When they did the perk test for the septic it passed, so we don't have to have a pump in the tank, that saved us a couple thousand dollars.  Our grandson saw the specialist and everything was fine, he is a healthy teenage boy.   God is good, and I am so thankful I don't have to be in charge.  

These things I have spoken unto you,

that in me ye might have peace.

In the world ye shall have tribulation:

but be of good cheer;

I have overcome the world.

Rhubarb Swirl Desert

First make a graham cracker crust:

1 cup graham cracker crumbs

1 tsp. sugar

1/4 cup butter

Melt butter in a 9x9 baking dish, add sugar and graham crackers.  Mix together and pat into to the bottom of the dish.  Bake 350 for 10 to 15 minutes.

Filling

3 cups diced rhubarb

3/4 cups sugar

Let rhubarb stand for 1 hour in sugar.

Then:

Cook until tender about 10 to 15 minutes.

Remove from heat, stir in:

1 (3 oz,) pkg. strawberry jello

Set aside to cool.

While above mixture is cooling, whip together

1 sm. box instant vanilla pudding

1~1/2 cups milk

add to this 

1 (8 oz) ctn. Cool Whip

When rhubarb is cool , swirl in the pudding mixture.

Poor over the graham cracker crust.

Refrigerate for a couple of hours.

Would also be good with sliced strawberries on top.

Very refreshing on a hot summer day!

Two Weeks Left!

Two weeks from today this will come off!

YAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!!!!!!!!

I will be so happy to have the immobilizer off, and be able to move my arm some.   Will also start more aggressive therapy to get my strength and range of motion back.  Thankful for pain pills!   

My DH is enjoying learning to bake.  So far he has make two rhubarb pies, bread, and Scoth-A-Roos.

The second pie the crust went much easier for him, forgot to take a picture of that one.

His crust was flaky and the pie was delicious.

His first loaf of bread.  

Next he is going to make a Rhubarb Swirl Desert, will post the recipe later.

Hot weather has come to central Wisconsin

 Since taking this picture we are now up to 94.8 and it's not even noon yet.  Going to be another hot humid day.  We may pass our 97 that we had yesterday.  Fan is going today!

This time of year I love looking out and seeing the flowers blossoming and the garden starting to come up.

After tulips the Purple Flags were the first to open.

Then the Iris.

This morning one of the Peony bushes was starting to open.

We also have a yard full of these little fellows.....

Our yard is covered in the spring with little Red Maple trees, they would soon take over if left on their own.

Will be spending most of the rest of my day close to the fan trying to stay cool, (a little harder to do with this immobilizer on my arm) went out early to water the flowers and some of the garden to beat the heat.

They say it is to cool off the rest of the week into the 60's, such a change.   Grandsons will be spending the night on Friday, great weather for a campfire.
