Cloud Watching

Saturday afternoon we had some storm clouds that went around us.  Enjoyed standing out and watching the clouds as they passed over.

   Reminder of God's promise to us.

Hot , Humid, Wet & Finally Cooler

We have been having a heat wave here in central Wisconsin.
The garden has been growing fast with all of this heat and humidity.  Thankfully we have also been getting some rain, the other night in a couple of hours we had 3 ~ 1/2 inches. I know some parts of the country can use rain, it needs to dry off here some, our clay soil is getting saturated.  Today we are enjoying cooler less humid weather!

The beans and potatoes have grown together.

The zucchini plant has really grown, starting to see little zucchini.  My yellow summer squash plant is looking good but the little squash is rotting.  Have only gotten one so far that was useable.

The wind and rain on Tuesday night tipped over some of the pepper plants.  Have tried to stand them up again, the ground is just to wet.

The wind also knocked the tomato plants off the fence.  Before you could walk between the rows.  Will need to try and get them back up off the ground.

Enjoying fresh produce from the garden.

Fresh Lettuce Salads

We have been enjoying lettuce salads from the garden.

This is our new favorite.  It is very light and refreshing.

Strawberry Lettuce Salad
~with~
Poppy Seed Dressing

For the salad use whatever lettuce you have.  I had Red Romaine, Baby Romaine, and Buttercrunch.
To your lettuce add sliced strawberries and pecans.
~you could also add blueberries~

Poppy Seed Dressing

1/2 cup mayonnaise
2 Tbls. apple cider vinegar
1/3 cup sugar
1/4 cup milk
2 Tbls. poppy seeds

Blend the first 4 ingredients together, add poppy seeds.
Store in the refrigerator.

Sent an invitation (with fixings for a s'mores) to our grandsons to come and spend the night on Friday.  We will have pizza on Friday, chicken and dumplings on Saturday.

We are enjoying cooler weather for a couple of days!

Jesus Cares

CAST YOUR CARES ON JESUS
The sign said "75% Road Ban," a warning to truckers that the pavement couldn't support loaded semis.

We need to recognize similar limitations in our own lives.  Many people reach stages in their lifelong pilgrimage when pressures exceed their coping capacity.  One more phone call, one more problem, and we'll reach critical mass or limitation.  There's only so much anyone can take.

Fortunately, God understands our limits.  Jesus referred to the people of His generation as "weary and heavy laden...worried and upset about many things...harassed and helpless."  We can still identify with those demographics today.  In fact even people filled with the Holy Spirit have a maximum burden-bearing  capacity.

Just as a footbridge wasn't designed to support a freight train, our freestanding human frame isn't rated to carry all the traffic that comes at us on any given day.  The best way to relieve the pressure is to delegate your responsibilities to the One who cares for you.

If you can trust Him with salvation, you should be able to trust Him with issues of less magnitude.  If you can count on Him for eternal life, you can trust Him with the next 24 hours.    ~Author Unknown~

Give Away Time

Ladies it's time to celebrate!
It has been a long two months and I need to do something fun!

Before my shoulder surgery I had planned to open an Esty Shop.  The plan was little girls dresses and some small quilting projects.  I had started on the dresses and have four done.  The surgery has put everything on hold for now, but I would like to giveaway one of the little dresses.

I am letting you chose either a size five or size four Sundress.  There is only one size five, but you have a choice from two size four dresses.

So if you have a daughter, granddaughter, niece, or know of a little girl who would like a new dress, just leave a comment and let me know which dress you would like.  I will enter your name twice if you mention the giveaway on your blog.
I will pick the winner next Tuesday (July 12th) in the morning.

Here are the dresses!

HAPPY 4TH

"Give me your tired, your poor,
Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free,
The wretched refuse of your teeming shore.
Send these, the homeless, tempest-tossed to me.
I lift my lamp beside the golden door."

Come unto me, all ye that labor and are heavy laden, and I will
give you rest.
Mathew 11:28

In New York Harbor stands a lady,
with a torch raised to the sky;
and all who see her know she stands for
Liberty for you and me.

I'm so proud to be called an American,
To be named with the brave and the free;
I will honor our flag and our trust in God,
and the Statue of Liberty.

On lonely Golgotha stood a cross,
with my Lord raised to the sky;
and all who kneel there live forever
as all the saved can testify.

I'm so glad to be called a Christian,
to be named with the ransomed and whole;
as the statue liberates the citizen,
so the cross liberates the soul.

Oh the cross is my Statue of Liberty,
it was there that my soul was set free;
Unashamed I'll proclaim that a rugged cross
is my Statue of Liberty!

Thank you to all the men and women who have fought and are still fighting for our freedom.

GOD BLESS AMERICA!

My Helping Hands!

Since my last post I have gotten rid of my immobilizer sling (so nice) still limited to what I can do with my arm.  At least with therapy am starting to see some process.

This week for a couple of days I have had some very helpful extra hands, here are some of the things that they did for me.........

helping hands doing dishes......

The helping hands getting weeds under control...........

 More weeding!

Hanging up a load of laundry ........

These hands just got done making their favorite chocolate cake.
(The cake turned out delicious, his first time making it)

Thank you so much Keiven and Jonathan for all of your help, grandchildren are truly a blessing!

Strawberry Season!

We pick at a Mennonite bulk food store.

Tucked under these lovely plants where....

Some very nice berries.

My helping hands were there also...

He really did pick more than he ate!

Today I made two batches of Freezer Strawberry Jam

and started crushing up the rest of the berries for the freezer.

Have two more pails to take care of, a few will be saved out for fresh and the rest put in the freezer.
We are having hot and humid weather today (97 degrees). Went out early this morning and did some weeding in the garden (little slower with only one hand) before it got to hot out.

Tomorrow will be doing some baking for the 4th.  It is suppose to cool down some!

Have a great afternoon!
